OPERATION THANK YOU
 Commander Bob Blankenship, Mrs. Carol Alexander, Manager of Operation Thank You(OTY), and Quartermaster Jerry Robinson before the weekly Thursday night bingo. This check presentation of $300.00 will be used by OTY to purchase items for the soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan . The $300.00 represented the profits from Patriots Day Celebration held at the Post on 8 September. Operation Thank You: supports the troops by writing them and purchasing / mailing items needed by the troops in harms way. This year's goal for sending Christmas Cards was 16,000 and may be exceeded. One lady in the Post personally signed and delivered 500 cards for this effort at the request of the Post Commander. Operation Thank You: sends microwaves and MP3 players and many other items needed to make life just a little like home. In fact, they've even sent decorated Christmas trees with presents for each member of a squad. Another item they send is gym shoes for the injured soldiers at a rehab hospital. Many of the soldiers arrive with the clothes on their back and beem from ear to ear when they receive a new of gym shoes to wear during their stay in rehab. |
