VFW Ohio Charities Executive Director William Seagraves shown presenting a check for $14, 000 to base Family Services volunteer, Judy Pyron. Accompanying, Seagraves and Pyron was Col. Colleen Ryan, Dan Faulkner, commander of VFW Post 657, Riverside.This check brought the total donated by VFW Ohio Charities to Family Service in the last year and a half to $41,900. Seagraves said “It’s not right for a person to go and defend our freedom, but have to worry about the family at home.” He also stated that he had “the greatest job in the world, because I get to contribute to the military.” Pyron said money given in the past was used in a variety of ways, buying food for the pantry, buying a “speech easy” to aid a child who stuttered, to buy hearing aids, to help a retiree who was robbed, and to pay some bills, “Anything they need, we help people from all branches of the service, sometimes when paychecks get messed up during deployment |
